Now Open: MSc, AI Ethics and Society

Leeds Institute for Societal Futures has launched a groundbreaking new MSc programme that equips students with the skills to lead on one of the most urgent challenges of our time: navigating the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence.

The AI Ethics and Society MSc is the first in a series of challenge-led programmes aimed at developing graduates who think differently, work across boundaries, and turn bold ideas into real-world impact.

Open to students from both technical or non-technical backgrounds.  It offers a rare combination of critical, contextual, and strategic skills to understand and respond to the societal implications of AI.

The programme begins with three orientation modules - tailored to prior experience - to establish a shared foundation in how AI systems function.  Students then progress through four core modules and one optional module, exploring themes such as bias and injustice in AI systems, AI and democracy, legal regulation, and the cultural politics of AI.

Graduates of the programme will leave with a rare and highly sought-after set of interdisciplinary skills, tailored to meet the growing demand for professionals who can navigate the responsible and trustworthy use of AI in society.
This distinctive skillset is expected to appeal to a wide range of employers across sectors, preparing graduates for emerging roles as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in everyday life.
