Impact Acceleration Funding Opens Doors for Collaboration with Industry and Public Sector Partners

Leeds Institute for Societal Futures and the Research and Innovation Service (RIS) recently brought together researchers from across the University to showcase how Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) funding is driving real‑world collaboration and innovation.

The event featured presentations from IAA‑funded projects supported by major UK research councils, including ESRC, EPSRC, MRC, AHRC, NERC and BBSRC.  Speakers shared how IAA funding has accelerated impact, enabled meaningful partnerships, and helped translate cutting‑edge research into practical solutions beyond academia.

Researchers highlighted a diverse range of collaborations with industry, public sector bodies, charities and community organisations — demonstrating how IAA investment is helping address real societal challenges. Each session ended with an open Q&A, giving attendees the chance to explore the opportunities, challenges and lessons learned from impact‑driven research.

The showcase not only demonstrated the breadth of IAA‑supported activity, but also encouraged new connections across disciplines — laying the foundations for future partnerships with external organisations.
