Interactive, celebratory launch. Bringing together key stakeholders to help us find solutions to some of society's most pressing challenges.
We’re delighted to announce the official launch of the new, flagship institute at the University of Leeds.
Leeds Institute for Societal Futures will be at the forefront of research into societal progress, inequalities and global challenges. The Institute will champion interdisciplinary Social Sciences, Humanities and the Arts for People and the Economy (SHAPE) and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) research across the University and globally, working in close partnership with policymakers, communities and external partners to develop cross-disciplinary, collaborative solutions to some of society's most pressing challenges.
The Institute will also nurture the next generation of solution-focused, collaborative researchers and leaders through innovative interdisciplinary postgraduate education, including master’s programmes, doctoral training and CPD initiatives.
Our launch event will bring together researchers, professional services staff, and external partners to showcase our delivery plans for the coming years. We will introduce our three delivery pillars:
- Education
- Research & Innovation
- Policy, Impact, Knowledge Exchange & Engagement
And highlight our initial challenge areas:
- Addressing Health Inequalities
- Ethical AI and Responsible Digital Societies
- Migration, Mobility and Belonging
- Polarisation, Trust and Social Cohesion
This highly interactive event will be held in the Great Hall at the University of Leeds and will begin at 3pm, with presentations at 3.30pm from Professor Hai-Sui Yu, Provost & Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and Professor Louise Waite, Director of the Leeds Institute for Societal Futures.
